The “Full Face” method botulinum toxin treatment, by Dr Sophie Converset

Botulinum toxin celebrates more than three decades of use in aesthetic medicine, remaining the preferred choice of doctors and patients for facial rejuvenation. The subject of multiple clinical studies, this product continues to fascinate, opening the way to new indications and techniques thanks to research and the experience of practitioners.

Today, the toxin is used more and more in “Full Face” treatments. For what ?

A good knowledge of anatomy, a better understanding of the pathophysiology of aging, the safety and perspective of the product, and the experience of the practitioner have allowed a wider use (but off-label) of botulinum toxin.
Ces avancées sont aussi le fruit d’une meilleure compréhension de la distribution
facial muscle.
The precision of the administration of botulinum toxin, in its site and its depth of injection, makes it possible to obtain very specific “myo-modulatory” results. The goal is to guarantee a natural result respecting facial mobility both for the upper third of the face and also for the lower third of the face.
Botulinum toxin offers a preventive solution against the signs of aging but also, by targeting specific so-called “depressor” muscles, it acts as the pillar treatment of aesthetic medicine to fight against sagging of the face with age.

Today, the toxin is used more and more in “Full Face” treatments. For what ?

Botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid are valuable tools for naturally correcting facial defects and reducing negative expressions such as fatigue, worry, sadness or anger.

Avec l’âge, les contractions musculaires altèrent les expressions faciales, véhiculant des émotions discordantes avec la personnalité du patient. Forehead wrinkles respond well to injections targeting the frontalis muscle to lift the eyebrows, as well as to treatment glabellar lines (corrugator and procerus muscles) expressing annoyance and severity. In the region crow's feet, a few injections smooth periorbital wrinkles (orbicularis oculi muscle) and can raise the tail of the eyebrow.

Sometimes the toxin is used beyond official indications, for example, to treat excessive activity a small muscle (the depressor septinasi) in the middle part of the nose, reducing the drooping of the tip of the nose when smiling.
The dilator muscles of the nostrils can also be targeted in order to dynamically reduce the opening of the nostrils. Likewise, “rabbit” or bunyʼs wrinkles
Smile lines can be softened.

The gummy smile can be improved by relaxing the muscles that pull the lip upward, thereby covering the gum when smiling. This injection also has a smoothing effect on the nasolabial fold.
